John Bright's Regiment of Foote

KNOBLE

This apparently innocuous game was (so legend has it) taught to one Master Cullen by a man of the cloth in Leicester.
Allegedly it is a German drinking game.

Equipment needed
Three D6 Dice (including a red one - purists only)
Thirteen counters, or markers of some description (known as Decals)
A bar selling alcoholic beverages (or if you're really sad tea)
A lot of money (if you have a mind to lose, or have the initials ‘DD’)
Up to four other willing valiant Souls / victims

The Game
Everyone throws one dice, and the person with the highest score starts the game
The decals begin the game in the Bank which is controlled by the 'Decal Monitor', 'DM' or 'Danger Mouse'.
The aim of the game is 'not to lose'. The loser is the player who ends up with all the decals. As the game progresses the decals will pass from the bank to the players and then from player to player, once the bank is exhausted.
The basic rule is that at the end of each round the player with the highest score pays (initially from the bank then from any decals he may have) the player with the lowest score the scored number of decals.
Once a player has no decals in front of him and there are none in the Bank he is out of the Round, and if you're not playing you can't lose.

The starter can throw the dice up to three times
Subsequent players may only throw the dice up to the same number of times as the starter.
The player will attempt to gain the best score possible within the dice throws allowed. At all times the players must throw to beat the winning score, they cannot stick with a score lower or equal to the winning score

 3 of a Kind

 3 in a Row

- AUS -

- Bose Seiben -

- Shock (?) -

- General -

- Strasse -

This takes you out of the game, any decals you have are removed from play for the round

Bose Seiben means ‘Angry Seven’ and is worth 7 Decals to the loser.

where ? = 2 to 6 and is worth ? decals to the loser

A higher 3 of a kind beats a lower (with the exception of ‘Aus’ above) and is worth 3 decals.

A higher run beats a lower run and is worth 2 decals.

If at the end of three throws none of the above have been scored, the player is left with a nummer that they must keep. The nummer is read from the highest to the lowest (eg five, four, one or two, two, one etc). a nummer is worth 1 decal. A higher nummer beats a lower.
The lowest possible nummer is 2-2-1; this is known as 'Piss-Flaps'

Turning the Dice
The only number on a dice that may be kept between throws is a one.
If two sixes are rolled one of them may be changed to a one, provided that the player makes another roll with the remaining dice, therefore this cannot be done on a players last roll. If three sixes are rolled the player may elect to turn two of them and re-roll the third.
The superstitious amongst us will warn you never to turn the red die.

Buying the Beer
The usual variant of the game is that two round are played, then the two losers play-off against each other. The loser of the play off buys a round of beer for all the players
Our suggestion is that you drink halves, play it and you'll find out why.
The loser of one game or round always starts the next. (Mugs Away)

Additional rules are;

The preceding round of drinks must be finished when the loser leaves for the bar. Upon returning from the bar the loser should greet the other players in the traditional manner "Choke you bastards!"

If 6-3-3 is rolled all players must hum the theme tune to '633 Squadron' (not a popular rule in Germany)

No one can talk about Goats
